Thanks to a grant, we were able to install trail counters along the Heart of Ohio Trail. In the vision of the Trail Town initiative, this data allows our village, community and businesses to access trail usage to study patterns for seasons, dates, and time of day to see when the trail has the most use and when people may need amenities in our community. Our main trail counter is located near the Midpoint of the Ohio to Erie Trail sign near the Centerburg Mill.
The graphs above show usage on the trail for January and February 2026. The Total Traffic graph counted 1610 pedestrians and 236 cyclists on the trail during these 2 months. The counter does count out and back so one person will count as 2 if they are passing over the counter both ways.
